소녀와 나무, A girl and the Tree

10눈치채셨겠지만, 이 책은‘아낌없이 주는 나무’에서 영감을 받은 책입니다. 그 책은 참으로 철학적이지만, 그 해석은 너무 어려운 것 같습니다. 특히 아낌없이 주는 나무의 사랑에도 불구하고 성장하지 않는 그의 인격이 고개를 갸우뚱하게 만듭니다. 그래서 어린이와 나무라는 소재를 활용하여 어린이가 짧은 이야기 속에서 성숙한 어른으로 성장하는 이야기를 만들어보고 싶었습니다. 이 책속에서 주인공 소녀는 나무에게 많은 것을 받고, 배우게 됩니다. 그리고 나중에는 나무를 돕고, 그의 뜻을 실천하는 어른으로 성장하게 됩니다. 성장하는 과정은 마태복음 13장 1~23절에서 예수님께서 말씀하신 씨부리는 자의 비유를 모티브로 삼았습니다. 소녀는 미숙한 어린이로서 나무에게 실수도 하지만, 나무의 용서를 통해 부드러운 마음을 경험하고, 용기를 내어 나무를 지키며, 유혹을 이기고 절제하는 성숙한 어른으로 성장합니다. 이 책을 읽는 모든 어린이들이 이 소녀처럼 성장해 나가길 기도합니다.
As you may have noticed, this book is inspired by ‘The Giving Tree.’ The book is indeed philosophical, but its interpretation seems too difficult. In particular, his personality, which does not grow despite the tree's generous love, makes me shake my head. So, I wanted to use the subject matter of children and trees to create a story about children growing into mature adults in a short story. In this book, the main character girl receives and learns many things from the tree. And later, he grows into an adult who helps the tree and puts his will into practice. The growing process is based on the parable of the sower told by Jesus in Matthew 13:1-23. As an immature child, the girl makes mistakes with the tree, but through the tree's forgiveness, she experiences a soft heart, has the courage to protect the tree, and grows into a mature adult who overcomes temptation and exercises self-control. I pray that all children who read this book grow up like this girl.
